It's called cmplayer, comes with an attractive skin and a clean, pragmatic UI. On a related note, there is a very much kmplayer-like smplayer frontent on the linux side if you swing that way. Just disable all the extra crap for streaming TV after you install it. Works flawlessly with EVR too, not sure if they made an english version for it yet. PotPlayer is mostly similar to kmplayer excpet it is lighter, has more streamlined interface with less but most essential features intact. Not sure if they finally got it sorted out, but took them long enough for me to jump ship. Specifically, I have tried different iterations of kmplayer that fixed one issue with EVR introducing another. It makes playing music simple, yet still manages to give the user all the tools he/she wants in a music player. The most important reason people chose VLC is: VLC is an incredibly robust application but very simple on the surface. I use both KMPlayer and VLC but prefer KMP it opens almost instantly whereas VLC takes 5-10 secs. VLC is ranked 5th while Windows Media Player is ranked 25th. It displays on screen the speed while you scroll. kmplayer used to be good, but I think it started going downhill ever since the original developer sold the copyrights to pandora and started working for another place to develop a new media player (called "PotPlayer", YEAH BABY ). In KMPlayer use the mouse scroll button back and it increases the speed in 5 increments (scroll button forward slows in increments of 5). I couldn't get used to VLC's interface, it lacked some key features I needed (finer subtitle controls, easier screenshots, etc).
